James Bond Returns To India

Looks like the 23rd Bond film, which hasn’t been officially titled yet, is going to be directed by Sam Mendes, released on November 9, 2012, and partly (if not all) shot in India!

This would be the second Bond film which would be shot in India, the first being the 1983 hit, Octopussy, starring Roger Moore in the lead role. The film was shot in the northern states of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

So after almost 30 years, the Bond crew will be returning to India as the government granted filming permission. [Thank you government!] An official at the films division of India’s Information and Broadcasting Ministry stated to the press that, “permission [was granted] to film on August 25.”

So far the movie is known as “Bond 23,” has been confirmed by India’s Railways Ministry to be shot in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Goa.

Railway executive Chandralekha Mukherjee stated that, “shooting is planned for February and March next year.” She also went onto state that, “The only issue now is to decide what are going to be the points where the shooting will happen. We’re looking into it.”

Right now these are the details we have and as soon as more start leaking, we’ll be the first to share them with you! But in the meantime, we do have a question for you. If all goes well with the new Bond flick, and if a Bollywood actress was approached for the role of the “Bond Girl,” who do you think would be the best fit? We have a few selections below, but we’re also interested in hearing your thoughts!
